Who we are as Guilford Republicans

Guilford Republicans have a vibrant history and a long tradition of beneficial service to the community.  We are founded on the principles of individual liberty and personal responsibility.  We value the worth and dignity of every citizen.  We believe in limited government and its role to provide essential services to maintain an ordered and just society.  We subscribe to sound public fiscal policies, recognizing that public expenditures must be balanced against the citizens’ need to be free of unreasonable taxation.  We look first to our own resources and secondly to an open and honest government to improve the quality of life in Guilford.

Declaration of Purpose

To promote and support the appointment and election for public service of able and qualified Republicans who subscribe to the following core values:

• Protecting the safety and rights of citizens
• Minimizing taxation on individuals, businesses and investments
• Providing crucial services and assistance to people in true need
• Supporting excellence in public education
• Decreasing regulations on individuals and business
• Encouraging economic growth with environmental stewardship
• Promoting good citizenship
• Upholding public service as both an honor and a privilege
• Imparting accountability on any commission, board or committee
• Advocating for and taking pride in the Republican Party

History of Guilford Republicans

The Guilford Republican Party was founded in 1860 to support the campaign of Abraham Lincoln to become the 16th President of the United States. Since then, the Town of Guilford has had 66 Republican administrations covering 134 years.
