In
today's times, there is no one solution to community progress and preservation.
Maintaining this delicate balance must be entrusted to people with broad
managerial and educational experience -- people who are willing to listen
to and accept ideas from many quarters, yet take bold steps to implement
change when necessary. It is time that Guilford is viewed not just as
a town with the best Green, but as the best town all around.
Our
vision is to restore that reputation through thoughtful, educated and
diligent attention to detail that running a town our size requires.
Together
we will:

Continue to keep the trust in local government by maintaining an
open, honest communication with the citizens of Guilford.
- Continue
to ensure fiscal accountability through all aspects of
revenue and expense.
- Continue
to balance economic improvement with stewardship for
the environment.
- Manage
and plan for town growth and needs, while preserving
Guilford's history and natural resources, and building on its past
successes.
- We restored trust in local government by opening
the lines of
communication.
We will continue to:
• Respond in a timely way to citizen comments,
questions and requests.
• Schedule issues hearings, collaborative meetings and other informational
sessions for the citizens of Guilford. We will continue fiscal accountability
through all aspects of revenue and expense.
• We are monitoring property assessment procedures, to improve
accuracy in future revaluations.
• We will ensure professional budget preparation and presentation.
• We will control the growth of town government and staffing.
We will continue to balance economic improvement
with stewardship
for the environment.
We will:
• Actively participate on the 30 action
items that are listed as the responsibility of the Board of Selectmen
in the Plan of Conservation and Development.
• Work with the people of Guilford to Support the Economic Development
Commission in its efforts to keep existing business and bring new, compatible
business to Guilford.
• Preserve Guilford's unique character while maintaining a balance
with the preservation and conservation
